There are many attractive villages in the area, with plenty of footpaths to take you there, if you are the more energetic type, the three peaks walk, which starts at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, only 6 miles from Settle, takes you over Phen-y-ghent, Whernside & Inglebrough an all round route, (approx 25 miles,) on the way, you will see the Ribblehead viaduct, which the Settle to Carlisle railway passes over, this is a very scenic journey, and is well worth a trip.
There are excellent eating out venues in the surrounding area. Packed lunches are available.
